John Wesley Hardin. A fabled gunfighter. After John Wesley Hardin (1853–95), killer of some 40 men, the first when he was only 12. Hardin, famous for his quick cross draw (crossing his arms to opposite sides and pulling his guns from his vest pock- ets) died when he was shot in the back of the head while play- ing cards.
