词源 | wet one; wet ship. Wet one in sailor’s talk refers to a vessel li- able to ship water over the bow or gunwale. Wrote Captain Fre- derick Marryat in Newton Fortes or the Naval Service (1832): “She was what sailors term rather a wet one, and the sea broke continually over her bows.” Wet ship is British naval slang for a ship that has a reputation for heavy drinking aboard. |
