Jezebel. Jezebel “painted her eyes, and adorned her head, and looked out the window” when Jehu entered Jezreel. Jehu is an old expression for “an intrepid coachman.” The son of Je- hoshaphat (of jumping Jehoshaphat! fame) “rode in a chariot” when he went to war, the Bible tells us, a hot rodder that “driveth furiously.”
