turducken. According to an article in the Farmers’ Almanac (2007), this delicious dish was invented by two Louisianans in 1985. The men, both butchers, were asked by a customer to bone a turkey, a duck, and a chicken, and stuff each one inside the other (the chicken inside the duck, the duck inside the tur- key). The butchers not only stuffed the fowl—they named it. The tur in the dish was for turkey, the duck was for duck, and the en came from chicken. |
