Howard Beach wait. People speaking on the phone in New York City’s Howard Beach have developed what is known as the Howard Beach wait to let a plane go over the house. The wait is for the jets landing at and taking off from John F. Kennedy International Airport, their flight paths often directly over Howard Beach. The same could be said of all the commu- nities bordering JFK. Some seven miles to the east in Nassau County, the village of Cedarhurst is noted for Cedarhurst Alley, a flight path directly over the residential community. |
