词源	hot toddy. Today this drink, often used as a folk remedy to ward off colds, is made of brandy mixed with hot water, sugar, and spices. Originally, however, it was a drink called tari, made from the fermented sap of the palmyra tree, which the British encountered in India and brought home, changed in name and content, and called the toddy.
