词源	Carver chair. A type of chair with three vertical and three horizontal spindles named for John Carver (1576–1621), first governor of the Plymouth Colony, who first owned one so de- signed. Carver, a rich man, is considered to be the chief figure in arranging the Pilgrim migration to America and chose the site at Plymouth for the colony.
