词源 | Cape of Good Hope. The stormy southern tip of South Africa, which was so named because it seemed to be on the way to In- dia and all its riches. When the inexperienced explorer Vasco da Gama rounded it in 1497, he reached India and opened up a new trade route to the world, bringing back a rich cargo of spices. |
