词源 | cakebell. A glass or plastic container, often kept on a diner’s counter, where pies and cakes are displayed and kept fresh. When a portion of one is sold, the pie or cake is put back under the cakebell. In his novel The Road, Cormac McCarthy tells of a cakebell with a severed human head in it. |
