词源 | one-trick pony. Said of a person who is good at only one thing, the opposite of jack of all trades. The phrase may have originated in the world of the circus, where ponies were some- times taught tricks to entertain the audience, such as a pony that can “count” by stamping its foot on the ground in answer to its handler’s question. |
