| 词源 | syringa. In days past, the stems of this plant were used in mak- ing pipes. Because the stems resembled hollow reeds, the attrac- tive, fragrant, ornamental bush was named from the Greek syrin- gos, “reed.” The syringa (Philadelphus coronarius) is also called the “mock orange.” Linnaeus named the genus Philadelphus after King Ptolemy Philadelphus, who ruled Egypt in the third century b.c. |
