词汇 | no skin off my back |
词源 | no skin off my back. Originally no skin off my nose was the form of this Americanism, which dates back 75 years or so. It means “it is no concern to me, not my business, doesn’t hurt me one bit.” Perhaps nose better fits the phrase than back—if you don’t stick your nose into someone else’s business, you won’t get it punched. But the phrase is also heard as “no skin off my tail,” “no skin off my ass,” and “no skin off my butt,” all of these often preceded by it’s or that’s. |
