词源	sod. The mostly British slang word sod has gained some re- spectability over the years. It was first recorded in the early 19th century as short for sodomite. It then came to mean any obnoxious person, and finally was and is used to describe any fellow, as in “The poor sod lost his job last week.” Partridge says the last two meanings are “often used in ignorance of the word’s origin.”
