miracle fruit. When chewed together, the berrylike fruits of the African shrub Synsepalum dulcificum and Thaumatococcus daniellii make sour substances taste sweet. For this reason they are called the “miracle fruit,” “miracle berry,” “miraculous fruit,” and “serendipity berry.” Another African shrub, Dioscoreophyl- lum cumminsii, goes by the same names for the same reason. |
