词源	automatic writing. Automatic writing is writing performed without the will or control of the writer, sometimes without the writer being conscious of the words written. The phenomenon first appeared in mid-19th-century America as a tool of spiri- tualism, and the writer was sometimes (but not always) hypno- tized or drugged and aided by instruments including a planch- ette, “a little heart-shaped board running on wheels,” that was supplemented by a Ouija board containing the alphabet and other signs.
