词汇 | windy city |
词源 | Windy City. A nickname for Chicago that was first recorded in the late 19th century. It is said to have been coined by a New York Sun reporter who was put off by Chicagoans’ windy brag- ging during the 1896 World’s Fair. Chicago is not an especially windy city, so the blustering theory seems tenable. |
