词汇 | zotz |
词源 | zotz. Apparently first used among college students, zotz means “nothing, zero, zip, zilch,” as in “He’s completely zotz as a teacher.” The word seems, like zip and zilch, to be based on the z in zero, though it may have been suggested by squat, which it sounds like and which also has a meaning of nothing or zero. Zotz has recently come to mean “kill” or “hit” in un- derworld talk; since zotz means “nothing or zero,” to zotz refers to making a person nothing, to kill that person. |
