fishfall; frogfall. Fishfalls, or a rain of fish falling from the sky, have occurred fairly often throughout the world, and the word was first recorded over a century ago. They are probably due to high winds or the waterspouts that suck up fish and wa- ter and release them miles away. Similarly, frogfalls are also common phenomena, and falls of snails, mussels, shrimp, crabs, and even alligators have been widely reported. See raining cats and dogs. |
