词源 | fiend. The Anglo-Saxon ancestor of fiend, feond, simply meant “enemy.” However, one meaning of enemy was “Satan” and fiend took on this stronger meaning, too, over the years, fi- nally being used to describe any diabolically cruel or wicked person. |
