词源	Father of Bibliography. The Swiss scholar Konrad von Ges- ner (1516–1565) wrote important medical, natural history, and philological works. In his Bibliotheca Universalis he strove to catalog all known Greek, Hebrew, and Latin writings. He fin- ished all but one volume of a proposed 21 and earned for pos- terity the title Father of Bibliography.
