词汇 lively deaths
词源
lively deaths. William Randolph Hearst’s New York Morning Journal, suspecting the New York World was ransacking its obituary columns, faked an obituary for one Reflipe W. Thanuz. The World promptly stole it, only to have their rival point out that Reflipe W. was “we pilfer” spelled backward and that Thanuz was a phonetic spelling of “the news.” When enough time had passed, the World avenged itself by planting the name Lister A. Raah in a news story. After printing it, the Journal learned that this was an anagram of “Hearst is a liar.”
