词源 | high muckey-muck; mogul. A high muckey-muck, or muck-a-muck, is someone in a position of authority, especial- ly an overbearing person in such a position. Muckey-muck may be a childish play on the word muckle, “great,” or is possi- bly a corruption of Great Mogul. The Great Mogul (mogul it- self being a corruption of mogol) was originally the emperor of Delhi, and eventually his title was used to describe any big shot. |
