life-everlasting. A New England plant. No native sons need a description of the plant. At the height of summer, life- everlasting lies along pasture slopes and in sunny hollows like patches of snow. Looking closely, the blossoms have a tidy look of artifice, clusters of miniature roses with petals of straw. They seem to demand that something be done with them . . . even though the flowers (of the genus Anaphalis) are used to make bouquets and wreaths. In times past, women filled pillows with them to relieve asthma sufferers. |
