词汇 | bozo |
词源 | bozo. A word of southwestern origin with Spanish anteced- ents that means fellow or man but has come to have a derogato- ry connotation. It possibly derives from the Spanish mozo (young man). As one champion of this theory explained: “With the word ’bo (for hobo) in mind, and a cold in the head, what more simple than to change mozo (pronounced with the Mexi- can s, not the Spanish th) into bozo?” |
