| 词源 | eccentric. Eccentric derives from the Latin ex centrum, “out of center, deviating from the center,” the word originally an as- tronomical term and used this way early in the 16th century. Not for almost another 200 years was eccentric applied to odd, whimsical people who deviated from the center. (The eccen- tricity of the earth’s orbit is 0.017, should anyone have need to know.) |
