drive-in. The first U.S. drive-in movie opened in Camden, New Jersey, on June 6, 1933, admission to this 400-car site cost- ing 25 cents for the double feature. Richard M. Hollingshead, Jr., had used the term drive-in a month earlier when he patented the system. Within about 25 years there were more than 4,000 U.S. drive-ins. Very few are left today. |
