词汇 let sleeping dogs lie
词源
let sleeping dogs lie. Chaucer seems to have expressed this idea first in Troilus and Criseyde (1374), though he put it in the reverse form: “It is nought good a slepyng hound to wake.” For at least 400 years the saying remained basically the same, until in the 19th century it became the familiar let sleeping dogs lie, “leave well enough alone.”
