词汇 | lavender |
词源 | lavender. In medieval Latin the name for the lavender plant (Lavandula spica) is livendula, from livere, “to make bluish.” However, the plant was long used for scenting linen, and it was associated with lavare, “to wash,” which was probably com- bined with the former name to give it the name lavender.
