| 词源 | rodeo. A rodeo, from the Spanish rodear (to surround), was originally a roundup of cattle held once a year on western ranches. Cowboys often challenged each other at these round- ups to see who could throw a cow fastest, break a horse, etc., and rodeo came to mean a public contest or tournament of cowboy skills, the word first recorded in this sense in 1889. |
