Make something, especially a recipe, a lit- tle more intense, better, more flavorful, hotter, etc. The expres- sion is used frequently by Emeril Lagasse, host of the Emeril Live television cooking show when he prepares a recipe. It may have its origins in cooking, possibly deriving from a cook turn- ing up the heat a notch on an oven’s thermostat. |
