recommendation (n.)

15世纪早期， recommendacion，“向他人推荐自己”的行为（现已过时），源自古法语 recommendation（现代法语 recommandation），来自中世纪拉丁语 recommendationem（主格 recommendatio），是 recommendare 的动作名词形式（参见 recommend）。意思是“以有利的方式代表，推荐（某人或某物）值得考虑”，始于1570年代。Letter of recommendation 始于约1500年。
