punch-bowl (n.)

"圆形、低矮的容器，用于盛放液体或液体食品"，古英语 bolla "锅、杯、碗"，源自原始日耳曼语 *bul- "一个圆形容器"（源头还包括古诺尔斯语 bolle 、古高地德语 bolla），源自 PIE 词根 *bhel-（2）"吹气，膨胀"。曾经也指"一个大的饮用杯"，因此在象征节日或醉酒的标志上也有使用。1913年，关于足球场的用法，最初指的是碗形的足球场。
