词源 | collywobbles. No relation to colly birds above, collywobbles seems to have been suggested by colic and wobble. It means a rumbling upset stomach, a bellyache, cramps, or even a feeling of fear and is first recorded in 1823. Often but not always called the collywobbles, as in “He had a good case of the collywobbles.” |
