hully-gully. The New York Times once described the “digni- fied” hully-gully disco dance as “like Wyatt Earp drawing his guns, Dean Martin downing drinks . . .” Deriving from the twist in the 1960s, the dance may be so called because some of its gestures are similar to gestures used in the southern chil- dren’s guessing game hull-gull. |
