Wrote James Truslow Adams in The Epic of America (1938): “In what is known as the Jurassic period in the geologi- cal history of the earth, there suddenly developed in the course of animal evolution a vast number of huge reptiles.” The world has recently become more aware of this phenomenon with the release of the movie Jurassic Park (1993), based on a novel of that name by Michael Crichton.
