just another pretty face. A phrase that describes a woman (rarely a man) as of no distinction, mediocre, without much in- telligence or ability, except for her good looks. With the coming of the women’s lib movement in the 1960s, the phrase began to be heard much more as not just another pretty face, correcting the imbalance and not just regarding women as ordinary sex objects. Today the former term is even humorously applied to men. |
