词源	cannel coal. This is not “channel coal.” Found in Kentucky and Indiana, cannel coal is “a brightly burning coal rich in hy- drogen that burns well in open fireplaces” and is becoming pop- ular again as fireplaces become more common. Because it gives off a lot of light compared with other coals, it was first called “candle coal,” the name eventually corrupted to cannel.
