词汇 buckley-s chance
词源
Buckley’s chance. Used mainly in Australia for little or no chance at all. Probably named after convict William Buckley, an escaped prisoner who lived among the Aborigines, far from “civilization.” Many thought Buckley would never last, had no chance, but he fooled them all, living with the Aborigines for more than 30 years before he died in 1856, age 76.
