A little-known nickname of Winston Churchill during World War I, because he said of the German fleet: “If they do not come out to fight, they will be dug out like rats from a hole.” Churchill was first lord of the Admiralty at the time the war broke out but lost his cabinet post after the failure of the Dardanelles campaign, which he had supported. |
