词源 | bootlegger. Bootleggers got the name because they smug- gled illegal whiskey in the legs of their tall boots. The word orig- inated in about 1850, at least 70 years before Prohibition. Today a bootleg is a football ploy in which the quarterback fakes a handoff and hides the ball on his hip, running with it himself. |
