词汇 | bocaccio |
词源 | bocaccio. A fish named after the great Italian poet, storyteller, and diplomat Giovanni Boccaccio (1313–75). The American rockfish has a big mouth and the poet was said to be something of a gossip. Or it may be simply that this famous person’s name combined nicely with the Spanish bocacha for “bigmouth,” yielding bocaccio (with three c’s, not four). |
