词源 | Stalag. During World War II the Germans called their prison camps for allied enlisted men Stalags, the word a shortening of Stammlager, “base camp,” which comes from German Stamm, “base,” and Lager, “camp.” After the war the popular American play Stalag 17 ran on Broadway for several years and was made into a movie. |
