Bic. Disposable Bic pens have been manufactured by the bil- lions since they were invented by Hungarian Ladislas Biro in 1953, so many used throughout the world that the Bic trade- mark has become synonymous for a pen. Bics are named after the Frenchman (born in Italy) Baron Marcel Bich (pronounced “beek”), who bought the rights to the pen from Biro and manu- factured and promoted them, his first factory a leaky shed on a street in Paris. Bich died in 1994, age 79. |
