threepeat. A relatively new word, based on repeat and mean- ing to do something three times in a row, this expression may have been coined by New York Knicks coach Pat Riley in 1993, when the Chicago Bulls won the National Basketball Associa- tion title for the third straight year. There is already some con- troversy about the word’s first use. After the previous edition of this book was published, San Francisco running back Roger Craig claimed he used the word in 1990. |
