词源 | Morrison shelter; Morrison mousetrap. A portable World War II bomb shelter or air-raid shelter. The British indoor shel- ter was made of steel and shaped like a table. Two or three peo- ple could fit under it, and it was commonly used as a table when not employed during an air raid. It is named after British home secretary Herbert S. Morrison (1888–1965), who possi- bly did not like the shelter’s slang name: “Morrison mousetrap.” |
