The name of Jesus Christ, especially as the Mes- siah, as given in Matt. 1:23: “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” This had also been prophesied earlier in the Old Testament Isaiah: 7:14: “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.”
