词汇 | auburn |
词源 | auburn. A word that has changed its color. Though it refers to something darker today, auburn originally meant whitish, from the Latin alburnus, which derives from the Latin albus, “white.” Somehow over the years auburn became confused with the En- glish brown and has come to mean golden brown or reddish brown. |
