词汇 | agita |
词源 | agita; agit. Agita is an Italian word that has become popular recently in American usage, where it refers to acid indigestion brought on, especially, by stress and anxiety, as in “You’re giv- ing me agita with all this trouble.” Agita derives from the Italian agitare, “to agitate,” which comes from the Latin agitare, “to drive,” “to set in motion.” The term agit, used in prescriptions to mean “shake, stir,” hails from the same source. |
