词源	Show-Me State. A nickname for Missouri (see i’m from mis- souri). It has also been called the Ozark State, the Lead State, the Bullion State, (after Senator Thomas Hart Benton, “Old Bullion,” an advocate of metallic currency), and the Pennsylva- nia of the West. Obsolete is the nickname the Puke State, possi- bly so named as a misprint for Pike County, Missouri, or after a word describing a backward yokel. See also puke.
