| 词源 | shotgun wedding. Any wedding where the father or other member of the family, pointing a gun at his head, forces the groom to marry the bride, who has been made pregnant by or lost her virginity to the man. It is doubtful that many real shot- guns were used in such weddings, but since 1925 or so, when first recorded, the Americanism has meant “a wedding made by pregnancy.” |
